My Top 3 Affiliate Marketing Tips

Monday, February 8th, 2010

What I am about to reveal will probably not make some fellow gurus happy, but this needs to be said:

- No matter what they say about affiliate marketing, it’s virtually impossible for everyone to get those 5,000 – 10,000 dollars a month they are raving on about. The reason? There is simply too much competition! However my fellow gurus are correct on one point: No money will fall into your hands if you are not doing anything to get it there…

I decided to help you get started in the right state of mind, by giving you these high level tips below, that will help you make some money with the different kinds of affiliate marketing programs you can find on the internet.

1. Google Adwords

Some say the days of free traffic are over, but there are still some traffic coming that way, however those hits are surely fading away quickly. You can choose to work hard creating web pages that rank well in the search engines, but still – it’s very hard to do. If you still feel like trying, there are lots of Search Engine Optimization Guides available for you to download, both paid and free.

Simply by paying for clicks with Google (it’s called the Adwords program), you can get the top three positions on the search engines that matter the most – in a matter of minutes. It may come as no surprise to you that there are lots of guides available on how to optimize your google adwords campaigns as well! Did you know that the “engine” that drives some of the traffic is called Adsense? The adsense program allows website owners to put ads on their sites, and when the ads are clicked – the site owner just made some cents online. Most Google Adwords Guides recommend turning off that part of the campaign, due to the click fraud involved, which will give you bad quality, non converting traffic.

2. Your own email list

Building an email list of subscribers is hard, but doable. The task of sending offers to your very own email list is the ideal way to build a residual income online. Instead of sending traffic away and hoping for the best, the best alternative for you (in my opinion) is having your own email list to which you will be able to send multiple offers on periodic intervals. There are lots of autoresponder services that you can subscribe to, and if you feel like having total control, there are several Autoresponder Scripts available for purchase as well.

3. Having Your own affiliate program

Did you know that the gurus are aware of the fact that every visitor that fills out form on your site can generate 50 cent in revenue? What about if you pay someone 25 cents (50% commission) to generate that same amount of traffic, that you would otherwise pay Google to get?

This is the secret most newbies don’t know (and that the gurus don’t want you to know about): Let others generate the traffic you need to make some sales! There are a lot of advantages using this approach, including the fact that now others pay Google to get the traffic for you.

Final Words:

Yes, when it all comes down to it, everything involves paying for traffic in one way or the other. Just remember – in order to make the online income you dream about, you’ll need to invest very wisely in the different kinds of advertising available to you.

Pop Ups Are a Great Way to Build Your Email List

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

A very effective tactic for gaining subscribers to your email list is using pop-ups. However, they must be used correctly. If you do not know what popups are – they’re little windows that pop up and open when a website visitor clicks a link. The most effective pop-ups are the ones that appear when someone attempts to exit your website.

Most people think that pop-ups are annoying but they can be a great way to get hold of someone’s email address. The trick to getting subscribers using pop-ups is to make your website visitors think that the pop up is a way of joining an important opportunity that should not be missed.

For this trick to be used for list building with success, you will have to make the pop-up message sound as if there is a valuable opportunity that will not appear again ever if they do not take action by filling out their information. Using this trick will boost your mailing list in no time. Visitors will be more inclined to click on the link that would allow them to leave their details.

However, as effective as this is, keep in mind that many people have pop-up blockers on their computers. There are many possible solutions to this problem, so if you’re well informed enough you will find a way around pop-up blockers. In the end, it will be worth it because this tactic will grow your list fast. In addition, as we all know, more people on your email list equals more sales.

Tip: One thing you can use to get around pop-up blockers is to use DHTML pop-ups because they cannot be blocked.

Even though you may have a great website, if a person visits and decides to leave, it is more than likely he or she will not come back if you do not give them a reason to.

When visiting ten pages or more a day, it is not hard to forget the names or addresses of one specific site that we might have visited. As any good webmaster realizes, if 1,000 visitors visit your site and never come back, they take all the potential revenue they could spend with them.

Making a profit from those visitors is something you could have done. Still, if you want your customer to comeback, you need to convince them to join your mailing list! Some may say that creating unique content can keep some of the visitors coming back, but very often, unique content is not the solution.

If you really want to have your visitors return to your website, the best way to do this is by having them subscribe to your mailing list. The sign-up process for your mailing list should be a simple opt-in for the visitor that they can subscribe to before leaving the site.

The information that your opt-in form will gather is the visitor’s name and email address. Your mailing list will allow you to follow up with your subscribers through email.

You can get your subscriber to consider your offer, or endorse another offer to him or her. By getting as many visitors as you can to subscribe, you will increase your pool of potential customers and profit.

Try writing articles to boost your list, many people have found this to be a successful method. Readers and publishers of online directories will want to read the information you provide on the expertise of your business topic.

Writing good articles that capture the audience’s attention is the key to a successful viral marketing plan. The articles provide a way to market your product, but more importantly, allow you to show your expertise in the area.

The most important part of the articles is the resource box because it is through that tool that you will build your mailing list. A good website owner uses this resource box as a place to market their skills and the URL of their site.

The URL you include should send visitors to the place on your website where they can sign up for your mailing list in order to maximize the size of your email list. Presuming your articles are worth sharing, eZine will republish them and expose your resource box to many potential subscribers.

Getting your articles to become viral should be fairly easy if you follow these techniques, you should also remember, that once you embark on your list building endeavours, it can become quite obsessive. You will want to learn more as you see the big bucks coming in.
